Dayton, OH Police Department will use automated license plate technology on every police cruiser

The Dayton City Commission has approved the Dayton Police Department's plans to use automated license plate reader technology to alert officers whenever it detects vehicles associated with felonies, domestic crimes, etc. The DPD will activate plate readers in all 120 police cruisers and acquire fixed-site cameras to install in neighborhoods, only if they ask for them and if crime statistics justify their use.

Dayton, OH Pop-Up Patio Program helps businesses comply with COVID-19 distancing standards

The pilot makes public space available to businesses as COVID-19 limits indoor capacity. Successful patio applications allow the expansion of existing patios into parking lots and sidewalks. The parklet and pedlet options use street parking spots for platformed seating and extended sidewalks. Each application requires photos and plans for the proposed space along with proof of liability insurance. Dayton extended the pilot through December 2021 due to rising cases.
