Detroit, MI Tree Equity Partnership Targeted Plantings
The five-year pilot will use funds from the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and partner resources to plant 75,000 trees. The Tree Equity Score tool from project partner American Forests identifies local neighborhoods with scores under the citywide average of 80. The Tree Equity Partnership creates 300 jobs for workers who plant and maintain newly planted trees. This pilot advances Detroit's effort to create healthier and greener neighborhoods with an expanded tree canopy.
