Far North District Council has completely digitized the process for accessing Land Information Memorandum (LIM) reports. Applicants can review LIM reports online in order to access information for their property including building consents, land hazards, rating valuations, heritage, etc. By replacing the previous paper-based system the Council will save over $10,000 each year in printing, postage, and transport costs.

Council staffers created a base map layer of open space data from existing records. Residents were encouraged to share parks and other spaces not marked in the first draft. A survey also asked participants to share their experiences with local open spaces. The resulting GIS map fills in public record gaps and introduces residents to new recreational areas. District officials will use the map when planning recreational upgrades and budgets.

Participants also recorded videos and voice messages about how improved connectivity can help growth in their communities. Council officials are using Nothing But Net data to guide the deployment of projects like the Ultra-Fast Broadband program for towns. The council wants to reach 100% connectivity across the district by 2020.
