Far North District Council, NZ seeks resident assistance with open space mapping project
Far North District Council, NZ Open Space Mapping Resident
Council staffers created a base map layer of open space data from existing records. Residents were encouraged to share parks and other spaces not marked in the first draft. A survey also asked participants to share their experiences with local open spaces. The resulting GIS map fills in public record gaps and introduces residents to new recreational areas. District officials will use the map when planning recreational upgrades and budgets.
