Fingal County Council partnered with 18 businesses for the installation of hotspots on their properties. Forty-seven hotspots operated by Magnet Networks offer a 150-meter range for outdoor users without impacting business networks. Local officials funded the network with €120,000 in WiFi4EU vouchers. The development of a free public Wi-Fi network is a key element of the county's Public Wi-Fi Roadmap for a more digitally inclusive community.

Dublin City Council, IE works with neighboring councils to test smart ring buoy technologies

Dublin City Council experiences 600 ring buoy thefts each year that imperil residents near waterways. The city and nearby councils are undertaking a nine-month pilot of four smart buoy technologies to determine their effectiveness in deterring thefts. Smart buoys alert authorities immediately after thefts and indicate maintenance needs. Successful technologies will proceed to a second pilot before potential nationwide deployment.
