City-run Startup Central Victoria recruited 15 businesses for the free 12-week program. Qualifying participants are starting or expanding ventures in the region. Customized paths called Discovery, Development, and Advanced provide lessons for different business needs. Entrepreneurs participate in weekly virtual courses and one-on-one coaching sessions. A pitch feedback event results in advice from experienced entrepreneurs on how to best present business ideas.

Greater Bendigo, VIC connects artists with businesses through Creative Recovery Residency Program

Five local artists and creative agencies will be selected for three-month residencies at local businesses. Each $4,000 AUD grant encourages the artist to produce creative projects supporting their business partners. The council encourages artists-in-residence to create digital marketing assets, redesign workspaces, and produce videos that build camaraderie among employees. This program focuses on creative professions that were substantially impacted by the pandemic.

The campaign's first stage surveys residents to capture council plan feedback on six themes including sustainability and Aboriginal reconciliation. Residents also submit their thoughts on what makes the region great now and better in the future on the Let's Talk Greater Bendigo platform. Future stages of the campaign build on this feedback with targeted listening sessions and a 50-member community panel selected at random.

Greater Bendigo, VIC trains young drivers to drive responsibly with Truck Wise VR training

The city and its project partners produced two VR experiences for drivers aged 16 to 18 years old. Each 360-degree interactive video shows realistic road interactions between truck drivers and motorists. Truck drivers from two local companies were scanned for inclusion in the video. The Truck Wise website uses supplementary materials and an online quiz to reinforce safe driving around heavy trucks. Greater Bendigo intends this program for use alongside school driving programs.

The Clever Weather system uses 100 sensors dispersed throughout the region to gather air pressure, humidity, and temperature data. Twenty sensors are placed in public places along with QR codes connecting users to recent data sets. The remaining sensors are spread across homes and private lots. The collaboration with La Trobe University yielded the most comprehensive local weather network in Australia.

Macedon Ranges, VIC works with neighboring councils on Healthy Landscapes for Healthy Livestock

Local farmers and land managers receive free on-farm advice on regenerative agricultural practices. A short course on holistic grazing management centers attention on the health of the soil, water, and livestock. Additional webinars and workshops provide context for the farmer's role in supporting regional biodiversity. Macedon Ranges worked with Greater Bendigo and Hepburn councils to support 875 participants during the program's first year.
