Hunter's Hill, NSW The YARN Circular Economy Demonstration
Complete
A wall of drawers in The YARN allow residents to drop off items that would otherwise go to the landfill. Clothing, mobile phones, batteries, and household plastics are collected by the Centre for Sustainability Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT) Centre. Items are refurbished, disassembled for repurposing, or sent to regional recycling partners. Hunter's Hill also outfitted The YARN with a tool library and furniture made from recycled materials.
Project Succeeded
Hunter's Hill Council was a finalist for the Environmental Leadership award at the 2021 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards.
