Kiel, SH Stadt*Talente program connects recent university graduates with public administration roles
Stadt*Talente - City*Talent - began with a 25-trainee cohort filling administrative vacancies early in the COVID-19 pandemic. Selected applicants were undergraduate or graduate degree holders interested in public service. The one-year program rotated trainees through multiple departments to determine areas of interest prior to employment. Experienced employees guided participants through specialized tasks and encouraged innovative thinking about city services.

Kiel, SH connects land and sea transport through digital ferry management system
The three-year project with NAH.SH GmbH will result in a smart control system that communicates with ferries and public transit. Approaching ships provide real-time data about their locations that turn into precise timetables. Passengers track arrivals and departures via app to plan connections to buses. The control system updates digital signage informing cyclists if bridges or ferries are the fastest means of crossing the canal.
