Langley, BC Public Spaces Waste Management pilot program

Complete

The Township of Langley launched the Public Spaces Waste Management pilot program to prevent littering and reduce landfill waste. The pilot program involved installing 44 multi-stream bins in parks, trails, and other public areas. The multi-stream bins provide residents the opportunity to responsibly sort their recycling, compost, garbage, and pet waste in public spaces.

Project Succeeded

The pilot proved to be overwhelmingly successful, so receptacles were installed throughout the community. Phase 2 installed 38 bins in Noel Booth Park, the new Yorkson Community Park, and additional locations in Walnut Grove. Phase 3 expanded to McLeod Athletic Park, Aldergrove Athletic Park, and Willoughby Community Park in winter 2019.
