The partnership yielded rooftop solar panels on two council buildings. These systems generate 29,000-kilowatt hours per year and reduce emissions by 525 tons. Veolia carried out an LED light conversion project in Countesthorpe that reduces carbon emissions by 465 tons. Council officials plan additional solar projects for public buildings and car parks within a 50-mile radius of Leicester. Leicestershire County is working toward carbon neutrality by 2030.
