Lincoln, NE upgrades wastewater treatment plant to convert methane into renewable energy
Lincoln, NE Wastewater Treatment Plant Renewable Energy
The four-year project allows the Theresa Street Water Resource Recovery Facility to convert methane into natural gas. Waste gas from stormwater treatment previously generated electricity for the plant. The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department (TUD) worked with project partners to connect the facility to commercial gas pipelines. Natural gas sold for vehicle use across the region will pay for the facility's operations.
