Maceió was the first city in Brazil to offer a vaccination card in Braille for visually impaired residents. The card was initially offered to 2,000 residents before citywide distribution. Residents who received shots prior to the card's introduction were eligible for exchanges at vaccination sites. Municipal officials also offered the services of Brazilian Sign Language translators to hearing-impaired residents through its online reservation system.
