Melville officials partnered with ARNOWA on smart water and energy sensor installations across 20 council buildings. The project gathers real-time information from 9,000 data points. These data are fed into and analyzed by the ARNOWA CARBON cloud. The council works with Murdoch University to turn building data into resource management practices. Department leaders achieve decreased energy use and increased operational intelligence due to the smart grid project.

City of Melville's Smart Grid Paralleled Mode Micro-grid project, in partnership with Murdoch University, aspires to test and optimise the ability of this approach to significantly improve energy efficiency, water efficiency, energy security and the adoption of renewable energy across distributed local government facilities. The successful implementation of this project will provide an integrated system including renewable energy generation at sites, smart metering technology, an advanced long-term energy planning technique.
