A three-month pilot allowed applicants with simple building projects to request expedited approvals. Qualifying applications needed to show no substantial constraints on construction nor required approval by neighbors. The fast-track process applied to applications for single-story buildings, garages, and pools. An assigned development officer provided assistance to applicants from initial contact to the final decision.

Fast track approvals for small scale DAs - MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council will roll out a fast track approval system for minor and small scale development applications, following a successful trial over recent months.

A 12 week trial to ascertain the project was held earlier this year | Great Lakes Advocate | Forster, NSW

Fast track DAs include single storey dwellings, garages, sheds, carports and swimming pools

Project Succeeded

Seventy-nine applications were reviewed in an average of eight business days through this process. The council made the fast-track application process permanent after the pilot.
