Treatment Readiness bridges the service gap faced by formerly incarcerated residents who aren't prepared to confront health issues. The Mental Health Unit deploys community health experts, parole officers, and case managers to assist 40-person cohorts. The first step in Treatment Readiness is fulfilling short-term needs like safe shelter, food, and hygiene. County staff work with participants on securing identification cards, housing, and life skills once immediate needs are fulfilled.

Multnomah County, OR Wood Burning Exchange pilot promotes the replacement of indoor wood stoves
County officials estimate approximately 3,500 households use wood stoves for heating. This heating source reduces indoor air quality and contributes to health problems. The pilot offers financial assistance for selected households to swap stoves for electric heat pumps. Multnomah County selected four pilot neighborhoods based on income levels and indoor stove use. Applicants are eligible for rebates starting at $3,000 and up to the full cost of stove replacement.
