Newark, NJ guaranteed income pilot program
In Progress
The City of Newark launched a guaranteed income pilot program to help with recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Newark Movement for Economic Equity program is a two-year research study that will give unconditional cash payments, totaling $6,000 per year, to economically vulnerable residents. The pilot will start with 30 residents but is set to expand to 400 residents. Participants must be Newark residents, adults, and have income at or below 200% of the federal poverty threshold.
