Niagara-on-the-Lake built an interactive tracking map using the FOCUS by Telus system. GPS data from town plows provide updates to the map every 30 minutes. A color-coded map indicates if streets and sidewalks have been treated in the past 8, 8 to 16, and 16 to 24 hours. There are map filters for snow clearing and surface salting or sanding. Map users also learn which surfaces are not maintained by the town within the map.

The weather outside may be frightful, but the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is delighted to announce the launch of its new interactive snowplow tracking software through Telus FOCUS Optimization. FOCUS Optimization will help to ensure that residents are well-informed of snow removal services through real-time updates. The system has the ability to monitor where salt and sand have been distributed, what roads and sidewalks have been cleared, and where snow plows have been within the past 30 minutes.
