Nova Iguaçu, RJ Warm Clothing Campaign distributed clothing and hygiene kits to homeless people
The Municipality of Nova Iguaçu launched a Warm Clothing Campaign to distribute clothing and blanket donations to homeless people. The Municipal Department of Social Assistance (SEMAS) assembled and delivered 150 kits consisting of warm clothes, blankets, socks, masks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, sanitizer, etc. During the delivery of the kits, the SEMAS offered homeless people shelter referring them to nursing homes for physical disabilities or drug treatments.

Nova Iguaçu, RJ created the Maria da Penha Municipal Patrol to help victims of domestic violence
The Municipality of Nova Iguaçu created the Maria da Penha Municipal Patrol to accompany female victims of domestic violence who have received urgent protective measures from the Court. A pair of police officers, always one man and one woman, patrol the city on Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm in a Maria da Penha Patrol vehicle easily identified by a large purple stripe. The officers use an online reporting database to target locations with the highest incidence of domestic violence.
