Ocala, FL BYD Electric Trucks Emissions Trash Collection
The Ocala City Council approved the purchase of five BYD collection vehicles by 2022. These vehicles replace five ageing gas-powered trucks in the 50-vehicle fleet. A $525,000 price tag for each truck will be repaid within five years due to operational efficiencies. City officials estimate a 78% reduction in fuel costs by eliminating gas expenses in five vehicles. The BYD trucks also promise a 75% reduction in maintenance costs compared to the outgoing trucks.
