Orange, NSW improves work health safety assessments with its Risk Profiling Matrix
Orange's Work, Health and Safety team created a matrix for evaluating potential work risks facing employees and contractors. This tool evaluates each of the council's operational functions and work sites as low, moderate, or high risk. The Risk Profiling Matrix enables smarter decision-making about the frequency and necessity of assignments from a WHS perspective. The council earned ISO45001 accreditation in August 2022 based in part on this project.

Orange, NSW gradually incorporates water consumers into its Smart Metering Program
The Smart Metering Program aims to reduce the 10% of water reserves lost to leaks and overuse. City officials recruited 250 water customers who account for 20% of all consumption for an initial smart meter pilot. The trial's success led to the inclusion of smart meters in new construction and replacement requests by property owners. Meter recipients access the MyH20 website to monitor their daily water consumption and set alerts for usage anomalies.

Orange, NSW ran a successful GoGet carshare pilot for public employees and residents
The six-month pilot used six shareable vehicles available by the GoGet app for as little as $6 AUD per hour. Employees with the state's Department of Primary Industries opted for GoGet vehicles rather than fleet cars during the pilot. GoGet reported 200 app users during the pilot and expanded the fleet to eight vehicles at its conclusion. Orange officials touted this pilot as the first regional carshare trial in Australia.

The council held a weekly drawing for $10,000 AUD worth of Shop Orange cards redeemable at participating retailers. Orange officials invested in the Retail Recovery plan after projecting a strong return on investment following five weeks of drawings.
