Oxfordshire, Oxford City, and Cherwell received £40,000 from Material Focus as part of the organization's Recycle Your Electricals effort. Residents can dispose of their single-use vaping products at 60 hot-pink collection spots in local shops and bars. The initiative adds dedicated bins for vape collection at seven household waste recycling centres. Recycle Your Vape also offers kerbside collection of vapes in Cherwell alongside rubbish and recycling.

The county's Fire and Rescue Service worked with ULEMCo on an eight-month evaluation of fire engine needs. This study determined how much energy was required for four hours of water pumping and typical travel distances to calls. ULEMCo will create a prototype drivetrain with hydrogen fuel cells for real-world tests across the county. A £3.9 million national grant supports the HYER Power initiative's development of zero-emissions technology for fire engines, ambulances, and street sweepers.

The project plans full-fiber broadband at 200 council buildings including leisure centers, libraries, and fire stations. Neos Networks and its subcontractors were selected for the project's completion by the end of 2023. This is the first DCMS effort of its type and a model for the department's goal of 85% national gigabit connectivity by 2025.

The 16-month pilot supplies CONNECT Care smart pill boxes to 50 participating seniors following hospital discharges. Recipients are reminded by timed lights and buzzing sounds to take their medications. The CONNECT Care device also alerts the patient and their carer by text message in case multiple doses are missed. Oxfordshire County Council and NHS partners focused on seniors with two or more medications during the trial.

Data from existing traffic counters and GPS were combined in the first stage for real-time responses to poor road conditions. Alchera integrated data from bus companies, CCTV cameras, and other sources into a Transport Data Exchange for council officers in the second stage. An AI-enabled system combining both stages will emerge from the project with potential transit app integrations.
