Palmerston, NT Making the Switch Smart Lighting Program

Complete

The Making the Switch initiative sought to replace every street light with controllable LED lights. Palmerston's 4,879 public lights can be programmed to adjust brightness and time-of-day usage. This effort saves Palmerston $517,000 per year in energy costs and reduces lighting emissions by 64%. Making the Switch also ties into a public safety partnership with state police to improve CCTV footage through improved lighting.
