Schaumburg, IL develops the Real-Time Information Center for improved safety at Woodfield Mall

Local officials sought a unified surveillance system for the state's largest shopping mall. The RTIC combines video feeds from existing private-sector cameras with new street-level cameras. This camera network covers the mall's parking lots and surrounding streets. Police officers monitor RTIC streams in real time, thus allowing for quick responses to traffic issues and other incidents. Schaumburg built the RTIC with Motorola's CommandCentral Aware software.

The village snow map displays the current locations of plows and trucks during winter storm operations. Map users can filter plowing activities into main routes, primary roads, and cul-de-sacs. A color-coded legend shows whether roads are not started, in progress, completed, or treated by another agency. An address query feature shows road conditions and recent plow activity near a user's lot. Interested parties can check each vehicle's recent assignments with a single click.
