St. Albert, AB high-efficiency solar panel system
The City of St. Albert installed a high-efficiency solar panel system at the Dez Liggett Transit Facility. The module includes a 301-kilowatt solar panel system that supplies one-third of the building's electricity. This system was installed as part of the city's goal to use renewable energy to offset the use of electricity in its facilities and electric bus fleet. The City publishes real-time information of the solar panel system's performance on its website.
Project Succeeded
In 2018, the solar panel system produced approximately 286,000 kilowatt-hours which saved over 110,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide gas emissions and is the equivalent of 374 trees planted. The City won an Emerald Award at the 29th Annual Emerald Awards for its photovoltaic installation at the Transit building.
