The Autonomous Vehicle Advantage (AVA) pilot used Beep all-electric shuttles on a one-mile route. Passengers rode for free with stops at the Vinoy Renaissance, the St. Pete Pier, and the Dali Museum. Each 15-foot shuttle held up to 10 passengers with limited seating due to COVID-19. An onboard operator with a remote control overrode self-driving functions as necessary. The St. Petersburg pilot modeled the potential for autonomous shuttles in other Pinellas County communities.

The AVA pilot in St. Petersburg was extended through March 2021. Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority shifted autonomous vehicle testing to Dunedin for a three-month pilot in the summer of 2021.
