Stuttgart, BW subsidy to replace outdated refrigerators and freezers with energy-efficient models
Stuttgart, BW refrigerator replacement subsidy
The City of Stuttgart created a subsidy for households and companies to replace outdated refrigerators and freezers. Eligibility requirements for the subsidy are that the old device must be at least 15 years old and the new device purchased must be the highest efficiency class available. The subsidy amount per household or business equals half of the purchase price at a maximum of 150 euros. The city created this refrigerator exchange campaign to contribute to climate protection.
Project Succeeded
The Office for Environmental Protection had approved over 1,700 applications and paid over 256,000 euros. Only 121 applications were rejected for not meeting eligibility requirements. Replacing the old devices has already saved 331 megawatt hours per year and 141 tons of carbon emissions per year.
