Borough officials created the program to support unemployed residents while putting friendly faces on public health efforts. Twenty residents were hired in the initial cohort of this outreach program. COVID ambassadors conducted random checks of shops, streets, and schools to evaluate distancing compliance. Tameside also distributed messaging about COVID-19 testing, mitigation, and vaccination through its team of ambassadors.

The planned community includes two village centers, two train stations, and a broadband network. Walkers and cyclists will use six kilometers of trail to connect with the Greater Manchester Bee Network. The village's mixture of homes, apartments, and self-build lots fulfills 20% of the region's goal of 11,000 new homes by 2037. Council planners estimate 45% of Godley Green will be green space open to the public compared to 15% during the land's previous use.
