Tournai, WHT subsidizing washable diapers to reduce waste

In Progress

The city of Tournai created a washable diapers for newborns subsidy as part of the "Common Zero Waste Strategy" initiative. The subsidy provides residents with €125.00 per child for the rental or purchase of washable diapers and accessories. The city's investment is based on the principle that the average newborn will produce 1 ton of diaper waste over two years but that amount is reduced to only 150kg when parents use washable diapers.
