The strategy challenges Vaughan to create a smart, safe, and sustainable transportation system by 2025. The Road Safety Program includes automated speed enforcement and feedback for offending drivers. Components of the Sustainable Mobility Program include low-traffic Community Safety Zones and an expanded cycling network. Vaughan also plans smart streetlights and data-collection systems to track progress toward strategic goals.

The City’s transportation system is in a state of expansion and transition with more urbanization taking place. Travel demand continues to increase as the City’s population and economy grows. There are many factors involved in traffic congestion within the city and the City of Vaughan continues to make road safety, active and sustainable travel modes and effective traffic management a top priority. This is why the City has developed a mobility management strategy.

With a new downtown core, thousands of businesses and more than 335,000 residents, the City of Vaughan is one of Ontario’s fastest growing municipalities – and it continues to grow. In response to the increase in travel demand throughout Vaughan, the City has developed a MoveSmart Mobility Management Strategy. The strategy sets the direction and priorities for the next five years while ensuring an efficient, reliable, safe and sustainable transportation system for all citizens and business owners.
