West Hartford, CT adopts a six-month campaign for plastic film and bags recycling
Recycle Beyond the Bag opened four drop-off locations for plastic film and bags used for everything from dry cleaning to newspapers. City officials, the West Hartford Land Trust, and the West Hartford Rotary Club wanted to collect at least 500 pounds of plastic waste for use by a manufacturing partner. This initiative diverted plastic waste from the landfill and kept film from damaging recycling machinery.
