The West Hartford Police Department is partnering with Flock Safety to install automatic license plate reading (ALPR) cameras for criminal investigations. During the one-month trial, the ALPR cameras will be installed in 13 strategic locations. The ALPR system will alert police in real time when a vehicle identified as stolen or a suspect from a state or national crime database enters the town. The ALPR system will also send alerts if a vehicle involved in an Amber or Silver Alert is detected.
