Yonkers, NY trials ConConnect platform for formerly incarcerated residents in public housing
ConConnect is a networking platform designed for formerly incarcerated professionals. The city's Municipal Housing Authority will pilot the platform for up to seven months. Eligible residents in public housing develop online resumes and connect with local employers interested in their skills. This pilot unlocks an oft-overlooked source of talent in a tight labor market while reducing barriers to re-entry raised by previous convictions.

Yonkers, NY launched a pilot pairing vulnerable seniors with robotic pets to reduce depression
The Yonkers Office for the Aging partnered with the New York State Office for the Aging and the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services to launch a pilot that uses robotic pets to reduce rates of social isolation and depression among senior citizens. Participation was limited to homebound residents over the age of 60 and seniors living in nursing homes. Every three months assessments are conducted to examine the impact of robotic pets on loneliness and depression.

Yonkers, NY pioneers e-scooter use in the state through partnership with Bird
City officials first approved New York's first bike-sharing program in 2018. This pilot stationed 200 Bird electric scooters in the city's southwestern neighborhoods. Yonkers was able to expand the fleet to 500 scooters based on demand. E-scooters were allowed to operate on streets and bike lanes at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. The Bird pilot provided low-cost and low-emission mobility that complemented existing transit options.
