Arlington County, VA Performance Parking Pilot
Arlington County will design a spot-sensing system that captures data on parking vacancies near Metrorail stations. This system will adjust parking rates downward for lightly used spots and upward in the busiest areas. Parking rate changes occur over matters of weeks or months rather than the real-time surge pricing model. Performance Parking Pilot thins out traffic caused by vehicles circling blocks and increases parking turnover in high-traffic areas.
