Arlington County, VA launches a 911 telehealth pilot program to reduce emergency room visits

Arlington County, VA 911 telehealth pilot program

In Progress

Arlington County is launching a telehealth pilot program to reduce the patient load for ambulance crews and local hospitals while expanding access to healthcare services. Paramedics will still respond to 911 calls but during less serious emergencies they will offer patients the option to skip the trip to the emergency room. Instead these patients would be immediately connected with a doctor, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner via an iPad.
