Central Coast, NSW partners on Curby soft plastics recycling pilot as model for Australian cities

Central Coast, NSW Curb Soft Plastics Recycling Pilot

In Progress

The city partnered with iQ Renew and Nestlé to recruit 2,000 households for the trial. Participants place plastic wrap and packaging materials in yellow Curby bags and apply stickers with QR codes. The bags are collected from the yellow recycling bin and sent to an iQ Renew facility. Gathered plastics are used for new plastic production, waste energy, or chemical recycling. Central Coast will use data from the pilot to inform a future council-wide rollout.
