Chicago, IL introduces first-of-a-kind Snapchat filter encouraging mask use during COVID-19

Chicago, IL Snapchat COVID-19 Mask Use Filter

Complete

The filter activates when the user's phone recognizes a mask worn properly in the image. Design firm Ogilvy used augmented reality technology to align a Chicago flag mask over the real mask in a Snap. Chicago residents model safe behavior to their followers in the first widespread use of this technology. City officials approved the new filter as part of the Team Up, Mask Up campaign for improved public health compliance.
