The 42-acre Lamby Way Solar Farm is being built on a capped landfill. This 32,000-panel installation creates 8.99 megawatts of emissions-free energy per year. Council officials approved the sale of 5 MW per year to Welsh Water for its water treatment plant. The remainder of the energy output will be sold to National Grid, creating ongoing revenue for Cardiff. Lamby Way Solar Farm will emit 2,972 tons of carbon dioxide less than traditional energy generation.
