City & County of Cardiff Council, GB turns public spaces into urban forests with Coed Caerdydd
City & County of Cardiff Council, GB Coed Caerdydd
Coed Caerdydd - or Cardiff Forest - aims for 800 hectares of new tree cover throughout the council by 2030. Cardiff received a million pounds in funding from outside sources to advance the project. Council officials have identified 50 hectares of space for an initial round of tree plantings. Achieving the project's goal of 25% tree cover for the council would open new natural habitats and recreation spaces while capturing carbon emissions.
