Edmonton, AB Traffic Noise Reduction Pilot Smart Tools

Complete

A five-month pilot called Project TENSOR focused on nine locations with high numbers of noise-related complaints. The city and the Edmonton Police Service deployed sensors that captured vehicle noise levels. Each sensor activated a camera to capture footage of offending vehicles once the sound reached 95 decibels. Police officers investigated audio and visual evidence and patrolled hotspots to capture repeat offenders. Project TENSOR resulted in 335 noise-related tickets.
