Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council developed the High-rise Energy Infrastructure for Gateshead Housing Tenants (HEIGHTs) pilot project to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs for residents. The HEIGHTs project involved installing low-carbon heating systems and replacing old electric storage heaters in seven local high-rise blocks. The Council also installed new windows, facades, and roof insulation to help reduce the heat loss for tenants.
