Glasgow City Council, GB opens overlooked lots to prospective homeowners with self build pilot
Glasgow City Council, GB Self Build Pilot Overlooked Lots
Six council-owned lots in Maryhill Locks were allocated for the pilot. Glasgow maintains a self-build registry for homeowners or community groups interested in building on available lots. Participants build their own homes, coordinate construction with sub-contractors, or coordinate with neighbors for collective self-building projects. The program expands housing options in rural and suburban areas without relying on large-scale development projects.
