Glasgow City Council, GB develops Ultra-Smart Cycle System in support of school bike trains
Glasgow City Council, GB Ultra-Smart Cycle System Bike Train
The Shawlands Bike Bus escorts up to 60 children on bikes and scooters to Shawlands Primary School. Glasgow worked with Sm@rt Technology on a wireless device for activating the traffic light at a nearby intersection. An encrypted signal from the lead adult leads to a 45-second green light for young riders. Bike Bus participants benefit from high-visibility vests, helmet cameras, and route signs. The Ultra-Smart Cycle System operates during a 30-minute period for Friday morning commutes.
