Hampshire County Council, GB advances School Streets pilot project to reduce air pollution

Hampshire County Council, GB School Streets Pilot

Planning

The pilot restricts vehicle traffic near three schools starting in autumn 2021. Temporary roadblocks, signage, and volunteers will redirect traffic to surrounding roads. Air quality sensors will compare particulates near test schools against three control locations. Hampshire County Council will communicate with parents and other stakeholders in spring about the impacts of this pilot. This program encourages active travel while protecting children from air pollutants.
