The initiative asks homeowners, landlords, and renters to sign a pledge to reduce energy usage. Utility partners provide free home energy audits and access to low-cost improvements like smart thermometers. The Energy Equity Challenge also connects participants with low-interest loans for solar panel installation. City officials pursued LED lighting upgrades and building weatherization as methods for reducing Hartford's energy consumption.
