The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office created a Real Time Crime Center which uses video surveillance to help officers respond to crimes and solves cases. This one-stop access point for surveillance technology connects to a network of 1,700 cameras throughout the parish including traffic cameras, public surveillance, private security, body-worn cameras, and dash cameras. The Sheriff's Office is currently piloting technology that automatically accesses the cameras closest to 911 call locations.
