The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office is equipping all uniformed deputies who police the public with body-worn camera devices by 2023. The sheriff's office has ordered 175 cameras from Arizona-based police equipment maker Axon Enterprise. Patrol deputies will be the first to receive the devices and the office hopes to start training them to use the cameras by September.

The Eos by Utility body cameras are embedded within officer uniforms to prevent detachment. The Eos cameras use artificial intelligence to automatically activate whenever the officer runs, activates lights, draws their gun, etc.

The team members review body/dashboard camera footage with their supervisors to ensure proper oversight.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department launched a pilot program for outfitting deputies with body-worn cameras in the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. The pilot includes 72 deputies at the women's jail, approximately 30% of the deputies working at the facility, making it the first in the regio to use body-worn cameras. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office created a Real Time Crime Center which uses video surveillance to help officers respond to crimes and solves cases. This one-stop access point for surveillance technology connects to a network of 1,700 cameras throughout the parish including traffic cameras, public surveillance, private security, body-worn cameras, and dash cameras. The Sheriff's Office is currently piloting technology that automatically accesses the cameras closest to 911 call locations.

The city of Lakeland signed a 10-year contract with Axon Enterprises Inc. to acquire body camera solutions and other technological equipment for the Lakeland Police Department (LPD). The city negotiated a flat rate of $938,000 per year in exchange for 250 body cameras, 250 new tasers, 165 new in-car video systems, and 10 virtual reality training sets. The LPD will also be trained in a new software that allows them to accept videos from private home alarm system and upload them as evidence.

The city of Hartford is equipping every single sworn member, approximately 400 officers, of the Hartford Police Department with body cameras. The body camera technology, including licensing and storage fees, costs the city approximately $2.2 million over five years. The vendor will replace the cameras every two-and-a-half years and after the first five-year contract the city would only pay for licensing and cloud storage.
