New York, NY Neighborhood Safety Teams reduce gun violence
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) deployed uniformed anti-crime police units into 25 neighborhoods in order to reduce gun violence. Each of these Neighborhood Safety Teams consist of a sergeant and five officers all of whom received tactical training focused on minimal force techniques, de-escalation, communication skills, courtroom testimonies, and constitutional policing. The team members review body/dashboard camera footage with their supervisors to ensure proper oversight.
