Lincolnshire County Council, GB Food Waste Collection Pilot
The county council worked with South Kesteven District Council on the one-year trial. District officials recruited 4,700 households to participate in weekly food waste pickups. The pilot resulted in the diversion of 300 tons of waste from local landfills. Collected food waste was used to generate electricity at the Energy from Waste plant or was converted into soil conditioner.
