London Borough of Islington, GB smart cameras vehicle weight
London Borough of Islington installed smart cameras at two residential roads to enforce vehicle weight limits. The smart cameras operate at all times to identify the size of vehicles and predict their weights. Any vehicles flagged as potentially over-weight are verified with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency before being issued a penalty charge. The Council designed this project to decrease air pollution, reduce illegal activity by heavy goods vehicles, and improve road safety.
