The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to adopt a motion which would make it illegal to encourage, promote, facilitate, or instigate street racing or any exhibition of reckless driving. Infractions will be punishable by up to $1,000 in fines or six months of jail-time. The Council is also considering an additional motion to add deterrents at common illegal racing locations throughout the city such as speed bumps, raised center medians, curb extensions, etc.
